Laura Caswell

Laura grew up in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She studied dance (RAD, ISTD) throughout her youth and loved to sing around the house.
After landing a role in a Community Theatre production (with the amazing Company of Musical Theatre) she was hooked and the rest was history.

Laura made her Toronto theatre debut as Shelley in Batboy at the Bathurst Street Theatre where Radio Classical 96.3 FM called her “the new talent to watch”. Since then she has appeared across the country in a variety of shows including Little Shop of Horrors, Sweeney Todd, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Sudbury Theatre Centre), the Canadian premiere of The Marvelous Wonderettes (Thousand Islands Playhouse), The Wizard of Oz, A Christmas Carol (Neptune Theatre), Seven Stories, The Odd Couple, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown (Rose Theatre). Laura performed in the Toronto Fringe hits In Trousers, Like Omigawd!, and The Giant’s Garden, for which she was recognized as an Outstanding Performer by NOW Magazine for the 2011 Festival.

Laura was one of a select handful of global talents to participate in the International Cabaret Conference at Yale University where she studied with such legends as Julie Wilson, Amanda McBroom, Sally Mayes and Tovah Feldshuh. She trained at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City, the Second City Conservatory in Toronto, and received a Masters in Performance from the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London, England.

Laura continues to pursue many aspects of theatre and performance including cabaret, musical theatre, comedy, improv and voice work.
She also has worked as a choreographer, director and assistant director for many companies including Neptune Theatre, Sudbury Theatre Centre, Rose Theatre Brampton, and Georgetown Globe Theatre.
